Shop smarter. Let your agent do the busywork.
- find the right product
- respect your budget
- fill the cart for you
ShopMate exposes its catalog and cart as structured tools. A person can browse normally while a WebMCP-compatible AI agent searches, compares, and builds a budget-aware cart — on the same screen, with the same state.

How ShopMate works
Browse or ask
Use the catalog filters yourself, or ask ShopBuddy / a WebMCP agent in plain language.
Tools run for real
The agent calls validated tools on this page. No screenshots, no scraping, no simulation.
You approve
Review the cart, tweak quantities, undo anything, then optimize against your budget.
Two shoppers, one cart
Most shopping sites are built for eyes and clicks. ShopMate is built for both people and agents: the same catalog, filters, and cart are available as a UI for humans and as callable tools for machines. Nothing is simulated — when an agent calls a tool, the page you are looking at changes.
- • You stay in control: review, edit, or undo any agent change.
- • Agents work in structured data, not screenshots or scraped HTML.
- • Every tool call is recorded on the WebMCP activity timeline.
Try asking your agent
- “Build me a school shopping cart under $100 with a backpack, notebook, water bottle, and headphones.”
- “Find the best-value wireless earbuds under $50 and compare them with the premium option.”
- “Remove anything over $20 from my cart and show me what's left.”
- “Keep my cart under $75 but don't drop the backpack.”
What ShopMate does well
Agent-powered search
Agents call search_products and filter_products; the catalog page updates in front of you with the exact same results.
Smart comparison
compare_products ranks items by price, rating, and value-for-money so trade-offs are explicit, not guesswork.
Budget-aware cart
Set a budget and optimize_cart swaps, trims, and drops items to fit it while keeping category coverage.
Human control
Every agent action is logged and reversible. You can edit or undo anything from the cart page.
Meet ShopBuddy
ShopBuddy is the built-in assistant in the bottom-right corner. It answers only from this site's real catalog, cart, and agent activity — ask it what's in your cart, which backpack fits your budget, or what WebMCP agents can do here.
A website that can be called, not just clicked
WebMCP lets a page publish structured tools to an AI agent running in the browser. ShopMate registers its tools with document.modelContext.registerTool(). Each tool has a JSON Schema, validated inputs, a read-only or state-changing annotation, and a handler that runs the site's real logic.
If the browser does not support WebMCP, ShopMate simply behaves like a normal shop — progressive enhancement, never a hard dependency.

Trust & safety by design
No accounts, no payments
ShopMate never asks for identity or card details. There is nothing an agent could spend.
Server-side AI keys
The Gemini key lives only in server environment variables and is never shipped to the browser.
Every action is auditable
Tool calls are validated, logged with their inputs, and shown on the activity timeline.
